    Program Term

    Four-year Bachelor's program is offered. An additional “+M” post-graduate program is optional, where the detailed information is presented in “General Information for post-graduate Program in Civil Engineering”.

 

    Education Goals

     Being consistent with the mission of the Department of Structural Engineering at Tongji University, graduates of the program should meet the need of the future development of the state, they should be morally, mentally, and physically healthy. They should be familiar with the most updated concepts,  knowledge, and skills in Civil engineering from our courses, training and intern schemes. The graduates should also have technical competency to conduct design, construction, management in engineering projects and to deal with issues related to investment, finance and insurance. They should be capable of self-studying, creating, organizing, coordinating, team-working and establishing international view.

 

    Basic Graduation Requirements

     Successful graduates are expected to have comprehensive qualities in humanity, science, engineering, psychology and physical fitness, scientific attitude for the truth, spirit of teamwork and creation, and scientific conception of world and life.

 

     Successful graduates should be familiar with the most updated concepts, knowledge, and skills in Civil engineering from our courses, training and intern schemes. The graduates should also have technical competency to conduct design, construction, management in engineering projects and to deal with issues related to investment, finance and insurance.

 

     Detailed Graduation Requirements
     After the four-year undergraduate program, graduates are required to develop their knowledge, capability and personality covering the following:

(1) Basic knowledge in humanity and social science, including:

     3) Basic principles and methods of Drawing Geometry and Engineering cartography.
     4) Basic principles and methods of Engineering Surveying.
     5) Mechanical behaviour and analysis principles of structural elements.
     6) Basic principles and analysis methods of Soil Mechanics and foundation design.
     7) Structural design theories and design methods for equipment and systems.
     8) Life-cycle analysis and maintenance theories of structure, equipment and system.
     9) Basic method of project management and technology economic analysis in Civil Engineering Construction.
     10) Basic method of modern construction technology, engineering evaluation, monitoring and testing.
     11) Basic principles and methods of risk management and Disaster Prevention/Reduction.
(5) Scientific knowledge in society development and relevant areas.
     1) Understand legislation, law and code for production, design, research and development in Civil Engineering.
     2) Understand basic knowledge in engineering equipments and Civil Engineering machines for architecture, urban design, real estate, water supply and drainage, heating, ventilation and air conditioning and electricity.
     3) Understand new development in Civil Engineering.
