Predicting Remaining Service Potential of Bridges

One PhD scholarship in Structural/Infrastructure Engineering (with a focus on Asset Management) is available. The candidate should have a Masters or First Class honours degree in Civil Engineering. This PhD research project will consider the interrelationship between maintenance regimes and particularly inspection quality, local and operational conditions, original design and likely mechanisms of failure to establish a failure-risk profile as a function of age given information on the existing age and condition of the bridge. Central to the risk analysis will be the establishment of consequences based in part on the availability of alternate load paths.

3 year scholarship at $30,000 pa.
